Wow. Thanks for coming to the 2nd post of my, probably very boring, Lehigh Valley Housing Numbers Blog. We are tempted to turn the subject headline into a T-Shirt nobody would wear.
I hope you enjoy a twist of time travel. Snuff baby Thanos out.
In 2006:
The 30 year Fixed Mortgage was about: 6.12%
U.S. Treasuries in January 2006 were at: 4.55% (🤤)
The Median Sales Price of Homes based on the Lehigh Valley Multiple Listing Service:
Lehigh County: 179,900.00
Northampton County: 214,900.00
Lehigh County Average Monthly Mortgage Payment: $1207.00
Northampton County Average Monthly Mortgage Payment: $1377.00
In 2021:
The 30 Year Fixed Mortgage is about: 3.004%**
The U.S. Treasuries are at about as of: 1.48% (😒)
The Median Sales Price based on the LVMS are as of 12/12/2021:
Lehigh County: $242,900.00
Northampton County: $259,900.00
Mortgage Payments in each respective county.
Lehigh County Average Monthly Mortgage Payment: $1153.00
Northampton County Average Monthly Mortgage Payment: $1210.00
Takeaway: Hopefully 🤞, Chicken Tikka Masala. Houses are cheaper in 2021 than 2006 from a monthly payment stand point. I did not adjust the taxes, taxes are higher now, but wages should have somewhat adjusted for that. I'm looking into that in another segment later in 2022.
